It is also believed that the Irish started trick or treating as well. On Hollow Eve (the day before the New Year) the neighbors would go around and ask for food to help celebrate.

Their new year was november first, and they celebrated it october 31st. Thus, halloween was created. Halloween was called All Hollows Eve. It originated from the Pagans, who honored the dead.Halloween as we know today, has adapted since the ancient druid holiday it used to be, and is more fun, by bringing trick or treating to the scene for children.
